Mother and Son from Siliguri Dies on the Way to Islampur in a Road Accident

Webdesk, TNI Islampur, 21^st August 2017: Today in a tragic incident at Chopra a mother and her child died in a road accident. The victims were traveling on a bike towards Islampur from Siliguri when their bike collided with a speeding truck coming from the same direction. In the impact, all of them fell on the ground profusely bleeding. Soon they were taken to the nearby Dolua Block Health Centre, where the woman Smt. Soma Das (39) was declared dead. Later the husband Mr. Jaideb Das and his son Piyush Das (10) was taken to North Bengal Medical College where the child died. It is later known that the deceased Soma Das is the daughter of the well-known Sweetshop Owner of Islampur, the Late Jaideb Kundu. The couple was coming from their house at Siliguri’s Haiderpara with the bike. Mr. Jaideb Das is a medicine shop owner in Siliguri is presently in very critical condition at NBMC&H. The truck is being nabbed but the driver has fled. Police have initiated an investigation in the incident.
